About us
Founded in 2003
History
The school is a well-known institution in Kalai Upazila Sadar, Joypurhat district. It began on 1 January 2003 as Omar Science School and Technical College, with only 32 students in Class 6. The noted patron of education Alhaj Abdur Rashid Talukder founded it to bring a modern school to a small town like Kalai, and named it after his only son. In 2007 the school changed its founding name and became known as Omar Kindergarten School and Omar Garden Academy. From 2003 until 14 February 2013 the founder, Alhaj Abdur Rashid Talukder, served as its principal.
When the founder passed away on 15 February 2013, his able son Alhaj Omar Abdul Aziz Talukder took charge as principal, and has run the school with great skill ever since. Teaching began with just two teachers — Md. Delowar Hossain and Md. Bazlur Rashid. Today 80 teachers and staff work here. In 2004 teaching was extended to Classes 3 to 7; in 2005 to Play to Class 8; and since 2007 the school has taught from Play to Class 10.
The school first sat the SSC examination in 2008, and every student passed with distinction. It has the offices it needs, the principal's office, its own library and a modern computer lab. To raise academic standards there are class tests, mid-term and term-end examinations, mark sheets and guardians' meetings. The success of teachers and students in sports, education, culture and social work is plain to see. Every year the annual sports, the science fair, the pitha fair, study tours and other events are held with great enthusiasm. The school is run by the principal, the director and a local committee.
The school is now known as one of the best in Joypurhat district. Through the efforts of the late Alhaj Md. Abdur Rashid Talukder, the Education Trust scholarship examination began in Kalai and the area's best students regularly receive scholarships; it is now run by the government administration. The school has a boys' hostel and a girls' hostel, so students come from far away to study here. The classrooms are connected to CCTV. There is a school bus for travel, a canteen for meals, and students' health is checked from time to time. Its own library holds about two thousand good books, and small societies help knowledge grow.
The school has two completely quiet residential buildings — one for boys and one for girls — run by two skilled teachers.
Public examination results — a 100% pass rate in every public examination since the school was founded.
